Sam Hill’s dream to build a road along the Columbia Gorge seemed impossible to fulfill, yet Hill, along with engineer Sam Lancaster, wanted to build a technological masterpiece of a road. This unique documentary utilizes a wealth of archive photos and early motion pictures to follow the construction process. In the words of author and scholar Professor David P. Billington, “It was more than a great transportation artery. More even than a scenic highway.
